Children and teenagers can experience pressure and stress from many different aspects of life all at the same time – when they are still making sense of who they are and what matters to them. The physical, mental and emotional changes they undergo can create uncertainty and undermine self-confidence. It can be a bewildering and stressful time. The opportunity to have their thoughts and feelings heard and respected by someone who is not directly involved in their lives can be hugely beneficial.
I have spent many years working with children and adolescents and know how hard it is to juggle schoolwork, exam pressure, relationships, family issues and hobbies, especially when the future seems so uncertain. The impact of social media on self-image can also be a significant issue. I draw on creative and imaginative techniques to help young people to express their emotions in order to understand and respect themselves better.
